WHAT IS INFERTILITY
The term infertility refers to the inability to conceive after one year of contraceptive-free, planned intercourse. If pregnancy does not occur within one among those younger than 35, or within six months among those older than 35, it is recommended to seek medical help. Such a specialist in the field of reproductive medicine and artificial insemination will set a suitable treatment plan.
The causes of infertility are the same in both sexes. Of all infertility cases, 40% can be attributed to male factors and 40% to female factors. 10% are caused by combined factors, and the cause cannot be exactly determined in only 10% of all cases.
Every year in the Czech Republic, 8.000 to 10.000 couples seek medical help for infertility, and this trend has unfortunately had a growing tendency. One out of five couples of reproductive age is affected by fertility disorder and needs a service of assisted reproduction – the so-called artificial insemination.
