Embryo cryoconservation
Frozen embryos are stored in liquid nitrogen at -196 °C. When thawed, about 95% of the embryos are ready for the next cultivation or transfer. Embryo insertion is done similarly to standard IVF – embryo transfer.
Vitrification is the modern cryopreservation technique used at our clinic. During vitrification, reproductive cells are rapidly cooled to a temperature of - 196 °C. A medium with a high dose of cryoprotectants is used, protecting cells from damage.
Thanks to this system, it has been possible to increase the success rate of infertility treatment using frozen embryos to the success rate of fresh embryos.
The average global success rate of an IVF program ranges from 30% to 45% of clinical pregnancies per 1 embryo transfer. In CET (cryoembryotransfer), the success rate is comparable to the transfer of fresh embryos.
